A little bit about me
Hey I’m Emma, Em to some and Emma Louise when I’m in trouble. I am from Lancashire, in the north west of England, where all men sound like Sean Bean, it rains more than Ireland (yes really!) and we have our own delightful dialect including things such as;
- ‘clempt’ (hungry),
- ‘Am frozan dee’uth’ (I’m cold),
- ‘put wood in’th – ole’ (please close the door),
- and my personal favourite
- ‘Eaw fot speyk reet’ (he ought to speak properly) –
You’re welcome.
I studied and worked in film and TV in Manchester (United before you ask) then left to concentrate on my own photography buisness which, being a fan of adventure, led to a jump over the sea to Belfast in 2012! And now I am the Northern Ireland Creative Wedding Photographer of The Year 2025!
Me and my husband/ best friend Andrew have been together for 10 years and live in East Belfast with our perfect pal Charlie. We got married in 2023 and believe me, I fully know the stress of planning a wedding, after getting engaged and married within a year. WITH full year of bookings already in! So I’ve got your back.
When I am not taking thousands of photos, I facilitate digital and traditional art workshops around Northern Ireland with children and young adults who don’t have access to the arts. It’s genuinely amazing.
I travel to as many places as I possibly can. And I pour a mean pint of Guinness (see evidence below). Huge film nerd and I will tell you that Viggo Mortensen broke his toes when kicking the helmet in that scene.
I love climbing to the tops of things, waterfalls, castles, give me a mountain anyday (although some days I might just want to look at it from a nice cafe). I love meeting people and their dogs.
Big fan of cooking and actually worked in a French restaurants for a few years.
Autumn is the best season. But I have a soft spot for Spring. I grow tomatoes and an array of veggies in my garden every year.
What first got me behind the camera? Oooof this could be endless. I can’t remember every not taking photos. Early 90’s film cameras, the wind up 24 frame cameras, a digi cam in every bag on every night out. I’m sentimental. Treasure memories & lost moments. Forever curious about people and stories. I love shared history. Have an obsession with documenting life and the small moments. Relish the joy of chasing light. Realising a new perspective, learning a new skill thrills me. I see the world through an every exanding lens. Some days I can’t believe my childhood passion is now the job I’m so passionae about!
I spend most if my life taking pictures BUT when not hiding behind the lens I listen to music…lots and lots of music.
