Being a belfast wedding photographer is a dream. Though nothing is quite so dreamy as when your two best friends get married and they choose you to document their gorgeous day! I have known Jon and Laura Marie for 12 years. From when they first met to their wedding day. I was pretty emotional about this one guys and ofcourse I put my heart and soul into their images (I put my heart and soul into all weddings I capture).

These two are the perfect example of enjoying EVERY SECOND of your wedding. You spent the time, the money, you organised everything, the details are beautiful. Now lets have some fun.

The Day

We started the day off at Ten Square Hotel in Belfast and at Hair By Sam where he and his team were dolling up the ladies. I met the girls there, feasting on champagne and delicious treats from Lazy Claire Patisserie, whilst my second shooter went to hang out with the groomsparty in their room and the hotel bar.

The ceremony took place in the Treehouse at AMPM and the dinner and all night dancing moved us downstairs into the luxurious caberet supperclub. The venue was stunning, what a gorgeous backdrop for a Belfast wedding Photographer. The staff were epic, organised and made a mean espresso martini!

Geeks unite

The wedding had so many specal moments. Their day was jam packed with love and laughter. Jon and Laura made sure their wedding was unique, personality all over the place and everyone who knows them would say it was SO them. It was geeky, nerd heaven but with so many romantic touches. There were racoons on the wedding cake (that was 4 different flavours!). Harry Potter things everywhere (heaven heaven heaven), jigsaw puzzles, button hole florals made from comic books. Mario Kart themed table plans and decorations. Laura wore personalised converse (legend) and there was a Marvel garter… oooer.

Creative

We are a creative bunch too and we all showed our love for the couple in the ways we can. I photographed the day. The wedding rings were hand made by bridesmaid Geri of Smugglers Treasures. I have 2 of her pieces and they are stunning! Groomsman, Nathan rewrote a Disney song from Aladin and performed it as a surprise mid ceremony, to much laughter and applause. Natalie, one of the bridesmaids, is a stage manager and was in top form keeping everyone on time, getting the bride dressed and out the door. And generally organising the day as beautifully as a west end show. Songbirds are friends of the couple and serenaded us all into a dreamworld. And friends flew from London, Liverpool, Manchester and more to celebrate with these gorgeous two.

But best of all DANNY DEVITO WAS THERE!

On the romantic side, there were fairy lights, handwriten letters, surprises, candles. A beautiful humanist ceremony celebrating their love and 12 year journey to this point. The most heartfelt and wonderful speaches, champagne, jewellery passed on from mum. Old friends, happy crying (me), red velvet drapery, hugs, love, laughter. Flowers cascading from the ceiling, ornate mirros reflected joy all over the room. THE DANCING – all night to Green Means Go who were truly amazing and optimised their set list when they saw how much we were all loving the rock music!
