Engagement Photography | Ashley & Alistor | Ormeau park belfast
I don’t know about you but I love me a fairy tale romance! Being an engagement photographer, these sessions always bring the feels. As a wedding photographer here in Northern Ireland, I am lucky enough to be surrounded by love most of the time. I am so grateful that my amazing couples not only choose to work with me, trust me with their most special day but also come and hang out with me. On adventures, wandering cliff tops, the coastlines, meadows, mountains and forests with me. They allow me in to capture the most beautiful, intimate, romantic and wild, happy moments.
The engagement shoot!
I am going to write an entire blog on why you should book an engagement photoshoot, or book one of my wedding packages which include them for FREE! Yes you read that right. But lets just say they are epic. We get to know each other, you get stunning photographs to show off and use (I have had couples use them during the ceremony, on save the dates, on the wedding website and framed up in the their house). Plus you can choose ANY location. Somewhere that means something to you guys is always where I get the best photographs. It is all about connection between you but you also get previews of my comedy banter. You’re welcome.
Every Couple is Different
For this couple they were particularly important because it is showcases one half of their love story, Ireland. I’m a wedding photographer so I love all the love but I have to say cross Atlantic loves always give me the warm fuzzy feelings, the sort of against all odds in this huge wide world I found my person and I am not letting go. As Marvin Gay and Tammi Terrell famously sang Oh baby there ain’t no mountain high enough, Ain’t no valley low enough, Ain’t no river wide enough To keep me from getting to you babe.
Ashley is from Nova Scotia, Canada and when she met Northern Irish Ali it was a whirlwind romancec. So within 2 months she was here in Ireland embracing the wonderful madness with arms wide open and a full heart. As their wedding is in Canada it was important for them to have their engagement shoot here in Ireland. A place they visit, has meaning to them and where we could get beautiful images. South Belfasts Ormeau Park was their spot and I fell in love with their relaxed, completely chilled out, sweet attitude to life. And when I say sweet I mean it as Ashley is a baker and has now force fed me delicious chocolate brownies and cake several times. Appalling behavior.
ALL ABOUT THE LOVE
I loved this engagement shoot. I loved capturing it I loved editing and I especially loved delivering the images to this amazing couple. You know when your bride to be said she is crying at the engagement photographs that you have done your job well. Captured your couple and given them images they can look back on forever, the start of their adventure. It is all about connecting with your couple and capturing them. Whether they are shy or eccentric, sarcastic and silly or romantic and adventurous. It is about my images reflecting their personalities. Above all I want to capture their bond as a couple. That amazing moment when I get them to look into each others eyes and say “so you two are spending the rest of your lives together” and seeing the glorious smiles and the completely unaffected look of love spread across their faces.
Because that is what it is all about.
Well that and cake.
